Nothington, Masked Intruder, Tim Vantol, Front Bottoms, Roots Club, Mönchengladbach, 25. April 2013
The Masked Intruder album is probably the best record of 2012 and their set at the Gainesville Fest was definitely the best show of 2012. So I was really looking forward to see them again. The rest of the lineup wasn’t exactly bad either, although I definitely went to see the Intruders. A few days before the show I realized something else: There were three bands, of which I might recognize one or two members of Nothingtin if I ran into them on the street. Most likely I would not really recognize them, rather just think: This guy looks familiar. And nobody knows who Masked Intruder are anyways, right?
However I knew the driver of every band playing. Anka is on tour with Masked Intruder, Eric with Nothington and Dave with Tim Vantol. 2013 the year you know the road crew better than the bands. As it happened, the day of the show a fourth band was added. Adam is driving them. 4 out of 4. Bulls eye.
Before the show I was able to do a little photo shoot with Masked Intruder. (Ill make this into a separate blog post) Which was hectic but fun. It might not have been so hectic if I had not blindly followed the GPS of my phone, cause it had chosen to send me to a completely different club. That cost us about 30 minutes and I felt like the biggest idiot. Guess it finally showed my sleep deprivation after 5 days of shows non stop?!
I have never been at this venue before, it was cool. Sound was good (thanks Dave!), the only think I didn’t like are those Verzehrkarten instead of paying at the bar. And 2,50€ for 0,2l of Cola isn’t exactly cheap. Still drank like 6 of those cause summer is finally here and its way too hot. Overall it was a really funny show. We got a few road crew photos at the very end. (Thanks Tilly!)
