The day after Serbia is an off day and so we decide to split the long drive to Italy into two parts. When we left Belgrade we didn’t really knew where exactly we were going. We had contacted a bunch of people about possible places to stay (thanks again to Looka and Veronica!) but in the end we ended up staying in Zagreb for a night.
Crossing the border turned out a little more differicult this time. The Serbs asked us to take all the stuff out of the trunk (and there is a lot of stuff in there with all the gear and all our things) and they put it through one of these X-Ray machines, like they use at the airport. Well at least most of it. After about half the cases they didn’t want the others any longer. Guess they saw our cooperation and let us go. Up next were the Croatians. They bitched about some paper you need if you travel as a band, some list of your equipment (guess to prevent you selling it along the road), and we didn’t have that. But in the end they let as go as well. This would repeat the next day at the Slovenian border. I told them we’d have the papers next time.
In the end we stayed in a hostel in downtown Zagreb. Not exactly the nicest place, considering it wasn’t even that cheap, but it did the job. We walked around a little, had a bunch of beers in a bar, went to eat at a place called “Surf’n fries” where they sold fries in interesting buckets. Went back to that bar and then I was the first to go to bed.
The next morning I didn’t shower cause I had forgotten my towel in Belgrade. As every traveler knows, the most important thing you need in this universe is your towel! I got me a knew one in the supermarket a little later. Then we hit the road to Milano. As it turned out Slovenia looks a lot like southern Austria or nothern Italy. Unsurprisingly cause it borders both. Northern Italy is just so flat, but you always see mountains at the horizon.
The venue for this night was the Blue Rose Club in Bresso, just north of Milano. I have been there before with the Dopamines Tour in October. Its more of a little fancy rock bar I’d say. Again (like in October) when we got there nobody was there, seems the owner is always late. Eventually the promoter, the owner, the opening bands show up and the normal procedure of setting up, sound check, food, hanging around took place. The bar doesn’t give free drinks to the band, so its quite normal to hang around outside and drink your own stuff. The others do it too. First band tonight are the Teenage Gluesniffers who did in alright set. Then there is some local band, which actually brought in a good amount of people. Yet the band isn’t really good. The only guy who can really sing only does a few backup vocals, one of the guys at guitar thinks its a good thing to play solos just because he can make it through the notes. But that doesn’t mean its a good idea, stupid! Worst thing about them though is, that most of their fans leave after them. So the Accelerators play again for a select crowd of pop punkers. Shit sucks! But what can you do? We end up in some hostel again, accompanied by Inri and some girl. Good night sleep I gotta say.
