Week four is coming to an end and we had to reschedule our weekly shooting. I found some cool looking lowkey photos and decided that this should totally something we can try. There was an opportunity to set up the black backdrop and we went for it. I really enjoy the results.

This was a very simple setup: Black backdrop, one flash high to the left. First I used a bare flash with a grid for really hard light and isolation. Then I switched to a small softbox to get some light onto the backdrop for definition and texture. Finally I improvised a larger softbox “window” by putting up the cheapest Ikea shower curtain and lighting it from the side. The first three sessions were kinda improvised and used little gear. This one felt like a proper photo shoot.
